The Galeys are kindhearted, full of anticipation for an adoption, and grounded in their faith in Jesus Christ.
I had the opportunity to ask Matt and Lindsey some questions about themselves, their family, and their faith. As I got to know them I was struck by how important relationships seem to be to them, whether it was their families, each other, or God.
“We are motivated by the Lord and trying to be the best people we can be, using the time we have here to help others and to make as much of an impact as we can.”
Matt and Lindsey said a typical day for them involves going to work, and coming home to spend time and eat a meal together before bed. They are also very involved in their church and can be found there every Wednesday and Sunday. When they have free time, they like to complete projects around the house and take road trips.
Some of those road trips are to visit family members. Lindsey has sisters in Texas and a father in Tennessee that the couple visits several times a year. Matt’s family lives in Zachary and he said he loves getting to see them for birthdays, holidays, and other family get-togethers.
Matt said the extended family is looking forward to a possible adoption, “We both have loving families that are just excited as we are about our adoption journey.”
Like everything else in their lives, the couple believes God brought them to adoption, “Because of our faith and relationship with the Lord, we know that having a child whether it be having one naturally or through adoption, we know that it a gift from the Lord. With that being said we just look forward to raising our child in a loving Godly home.”
They said it’s something they have wanted for a long time. “Adoption is something we both talked from the start of our relationship, we knew in our hearts it’s something wanted to do.”
Matt and Lindsey said they still haven’t decided how much openness they would be comfortable with in an adoption, but it is something they are warming up to. “At first, when we started this process, we thought we didn’t want much of an open adoption. That kind of freaked us out a little, but now after talking with other couples who have adopted we’ve warmed up to some form of openness.”
They Galeys said they have been touched by the faithfulness of God and their community through the adoption process and they hope to pay it forward. “It has been a lot of work leading up to this point, but worth it all and something we will cherish forever. We also hope in the future to be able to encourage and help someone else going through their adoption journey.”
Matt and Lindsey are currently waiting to be matched with an expectant mother. If you or someone you know wants to make an adoption placement, contact On Point Legal, or reach out to us, and we can help connect you to the Galeys or another waiting couple.
